PROM PROM PROM
This page was requested by an anon, it got loads of response from all my followers so here we are! Hope you guys benefit from it!
YOUR BODY SHAPE
It’s important to know what your body shape is and what style of dress to wear to flatter that bodyshape. I’ve included a little guide below:
Hourglass (curvy all the way):
This would probably be the most envied body shape due to its feminine look.Choose prom dresses with tops that define your small waist. Wrap tops, tie waist tops or belted tops are great examples of this. You can also show off a great bust and go daring-scoop necks tops, halters and V-neck tops are examples of tops that accomplish this for an hourglass body type.
Always remember that your waist is your main asset!
Pear(fuller on the bottom than the top) or Rounder figures:
A-line dresses that are straight cut and empire waists are good selections for this body shape, because they lengthen the legs and torso, giving the appearance of balance and height. Also, dresses with a little flare or a tutu bottom will cover your bottom drawing attention to the waist and legs. For those who are worried about a bigger stomach, don’t go for anything tight and draw attention upwards or downwards.
Straight (slender & less curvy) :
You’ll want to try avoiding really tight dresses that will emphasise your straight figure. Try an A-line dress that is slightly fitted at the top which will help add volume and curves. Open shoulders are a good option as long as your shoulders are not too broad. Like above, consider dresses with a flared skirt.
Busty:
You can play up what you have by choosing from prom dresses with a gorgeous neckline; but look for prom dresses with fuller coverage so you can make sure you support, I’d recommend halter necks. Also, tighter dresses which hug at the waist will draw attention to the waist rather than the bust-In my opinion this would be the best option for a busty girl. However, if your main focus is drawing attention away from your chest; look for prom dresses that attracts the eye to the hem (look at pear shape section)
note to all: if you’re short, I’d recommend short dresses only. If you’re average-tall, you can pick your choice.

COLOURS ARE IMPORTANT!
After you’ve figured out what type of dress suits your body type, it’s time for you to figure out which colour suits your skin tone. Then, you can apply that colour onto your dress style and start searching for the perfect dress!
· 1. “Winter” complexions have blue or pink undertones. Skin can be pale white, yellowish-olive, or dark. Winter people are generally brunettes, with deeply colored eyes. Many Asians and African Americans fall into this category.
· 2.”Summer” complexions, like winter complexions, have blue or pink undertones. Skin is pale and pink. Summers are often natural blondes or brunettes with pale eyes.
· 3.”Autumn”: Autumn complexions have golden undertones. Many redheads and brunettes with golden brown eyes fall into this category.
·44. “Spring”: Spring complexions have golden undertones and are usually creamy white or peach. Spring people generally have straw-colored or strawberry red hair, freckles, rosy cheeks, and blue or green eyes.
1.Winters should wear colors that are sharp, stark and clear. White, black, navy blue, red and shocking pink all go well with winter complexions. For lighter colors, wear icy tones rather than pastels. Avoid subdued tones like beige, orange and gold.
2. Summers should choose pastels and soft neutrals with rose and blue undertones. Lavender, plum, rose-brown and soft blue suit summers well while black and orange do not.
3. Autumns should select colors with golden undertones, like camel, beige, orange, gold and dark brown. Avoid colors with blue tones, like navy.
4. Springs can wear warm colors like camel, peach, golden yellow and golden brown. Avoid dark, dull colors.

NOW FOR THE HAIR!
There are a lot of hairstyles you can opt for for prom so I’ll just break it down for you :)
Romantic hairstyles:
curly locks: This hairstyle never goes wrong and it’s easy to do!
Sidelong Glances: Use hot rollers on all your hair to start. Pull all your hair to the side and put it into a low ponytail. I’d suggest tying it with a pretty scrunchie or barrette or something-don’t leave it to plain! Bouncy Beauty: Hot roll hair in medium size rollers and pull it all back in a beautiful headband. Fun and Quirky Hairstyles: Braids: It’s hard to go wrong with braids! There are millions of types to experiment with! My faves are the waterfall and french :) The best thing to do is to youtube some how to videos (that’s how I learnt) You could even get a stylist to do it and add ribbons or flowers in! Sleek & Chic hairstyles(these are all more difficult to do so I’d recommend a stylish) http://www.latest-hairstyles.com/prom/updos.html Okay guys, that’s all I have for now :) If you have any queries or feedback don’t hesitate!
